In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Sunny Health and Fitness is promoting educating our community of a healthier lifestyle that may prevent many risks associated with obesity and breast cancer. Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women and many of us know someone - a mother, sister, or friend - who has been affected by this aggressive disease. Each year, it is estimated that over 246,000 women in the U.S will be diagnosed with breast cancer. However, maintaining a healthy weight makes a difference when it comes to breast cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, “[We] recommend that adults get at least 2 hours of moderate intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity each week (or a combination of these), preferably spread throughout the week”. Moderate activity is defined as anything that makes you breathe as hard as you do during a brisk walk.
