Mara Magistad is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach. She has a background in dance and graduated from the University of Utah with her BFA in Modern Dance where she found that fitness was an excellent way to get stronger and improve in her craft. She decided to become a fitness trainer after experiencing the immense positive impact fitness had on her life- not just physically, but mentally. She has experience with one-on-one personal training and group training, leading others through various types of workouts including High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), boxing, resistance/strength training, treadmill, rowing, and dance.
Magistad also believes that fitness is a powerful tool for injury prevention- as a result of overuse injuries from dance she had undergone surgeries on both hips by age 21. Because of this, she is passionate about ensuring injuries like that don’t happen to the people she trains. Her number one goal as an instructor is to get you through the workout safely through proper form and alignment, and to make sure you walk away feeling successful and proud of all you accomplished in your workout.
Aside from fitness, her passions include dance, spending time in nature hiking or at the beach, dogs, her family and friends, trying out new restaurants, reading, and traveling. She believes movement is a powerful tool to connect with herself, others, and the world, and she is excited for the opportunity to do so through Sunny Health and Fitness!
