If you’re struggling to stay on track with your fitness goals amidst social distancing and gyms closing, you’re not alone. Changes to your overall routine and resources can drastically change your motivation, and even your ability to workout with the same equipment and space you did before. Check out my top 3 tips below for staying fit during the COVID-19 pandemic.

1. Be Open to Trying New Things

Right now, a lot of us don’t have all of our resources available to us when it comes to fitness. If you rely heavily on the gym, then you definitely understand what I’m talking about. We can’t just go to a yoga class on a Tuesday night anymore or roam the gym free using whatever equipment we want. Even if you don’t rely on the gym, likely your schedule has changed - whether working from home or helping your kids with school from home – and working out can be challenging as schedules shift.

It’s unfortunate, but it’s the current reality. Best to accept reality and find a new way to move. Depending on your circumstances, trying something new may look different. It’s up to you to determine what that looks like and make the best move for you.

This may look like, but not limited to: investing in fitness equipment (more on that later), purchasing an at-home fitness subscription, finding new paths or trails in your neighborhood for walking, picking up a new hobby like tennis, running, or jump roping, adding bodyweight workouts into your routine.

Bottomline, if you’ve yet to develop a solid workout schedule into your COVID routine, I want to invite you to add something new to your schedule - a new workout, a new form of exercise, a new format. Something that will work with your current schedule and circumstances, and fits with your fitness goals.

2. Invest in Yourself

The thing is, when it comes to your health, you’re never going to regret investing in yourself. If you have fitness goals you want to achieve that you feel like COVID is holding you back from, invest in yourself. Buy the equipment, download the app, purchase the membership, get the new running shoes. Whatever it is that’s holding you back, I challenge you to take that next step.

There are many affordable options out there when it comes to fitness equipment, apps, memberships, etc. We offer a wide variety of fitness equipment to fit essentially any fitness goal one might have, whether it be rowers, cycle bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, mini steppers, strength equipment - we’ve got it all.

3. Establish a Routine

I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times, but establishing a routine will make it easier to stay on track. When COVID hit, even my workout routine was thrown for a loop, and I’m sure I wasn’t alone in that.

For the past few months, I’ve been waking up before work, around 5:30AM to work out every morning. If you’re not a morning person I know that sounds extremely unappealing. Even as a morning person, it doesn’t sound too enticing. However, since I’ve started doing it, I’m actually loving waking up at that time, I’m loving my workouts, and I keep doing it because I know it’s the only way it’s going to get done.

Now, I’m not saying you need to wake up at 5:30AM to workout. What I am saying is that you need to find space in your routine that you can regularly commit to your workouts. If you truly have a fitness goal you want to achieve, the only way to get there is to workout consistently. Establishing a routine is a surefire way to guarantee consistency.

So, set a date to work out in your planner and stick to it. Get that routine established and your workouts will be unbreakable!
