Tired of waiting for your local spin studio to open? There’s no better time to invest in home fitness than now! Regardless of when gyms and studios do decide to open, having a cycle bike at home can keep you on track to reach your fitness goals, and minimize excuses when life gets busy and complicated.

We offer plenty of cycle bikes that would make a great companion for streaming workouts at home! In this article, I’ll break down some of the key features you may want to look for to make your workout experience seamless, as well as highlight some of my personal favorite bikes for streaming workouts at home.

Key Cycle Bike Features Bike for Streaming Workouts at Home

The most important thing you can remember when making your choice is, you can achieve an incredible workout at home on any Sunny cycle bike. Whether it has all the bells and whistles, or just a classic bike with the basics, our cycle bikes are designed to endure every jump, climb, and sprint. However, there are some features that will take your streaming experience to the next level. Below are key features that will add comfort, and convenience as you stream workouts from your Sunny bike.

Full Adjustability

All of our bikes have some degree of adjustability, but some bikes are more adjustable than others. For example, some have a 2-way adjustable seat (up and down), while others have a 4-way adjustable seat and 4-way adjustable handlebars (up, down, forward, and back), and then there are others that fall somewhere in between.

More adjustability is always better because your bike will feel custom fit for you. A custom-fit bike means you’ll be able to cycle with proper form and minimize your risk of injury.

Comfortable Seat

Our cycle bikes have a variety of different widths and cushion to accommodate different user preferences. In general, most spin studios will have bikes with a traditional performance seat. These seats are usually pretty narrow and rigid (similar to a road bike seat) and are great for making quick changes. While these seats can be uncomfortable for new cyclists, after a week or two, you’ll become more comfortable on your seat. We offer many bikes with this type of seat.

Some of our newer bikes do offer a wider, cushioned seat for those looking for a little more comfort during their ride. These seats generally offer more support and help new riders feel more balanced on their bike.

Flywheel Weight

One of our top asked questions is the difference between different flywheel weights. Surprisingly, the weight of the flywheel doesn’t affect the resistance you’ll feel during your ride, but heavier flywheels do supply more momentum once you’re up to speed. If you’ve taken spin classes before, a 40-lb flywheel is pretty standard and will feel pretty similar to what you’re used to at the studio.

Device Holder

A device holder is important for anyone interested in watching cycling videos on their phone or tablet. Even if you do plan to mirror your device to your TV, having a device holder to keep your streaming device handy can be convenient for full control (i.e. pausing and volume control) of your workout streaming experience.

Digital Monitor

A digital monitor is by no means necessary to get a great workout in. However, if you’re someone motivated by numbers, a digital monitor can be helpful. When streaming workouts, a digital monitor can be a great tool for checking in on your cadence, heart rate, and other factors as your instructor provides baseline speed and effort targets throughout your workout.

SPD-Compatible Pedals

SPD-compatible pedals can be used to clip in with cycling shoes. Clipping in will help you feel stable and secure on your bike and will provide a chance to push yourself harder and faster without the worry of your feet slipping out of the pedal cages. If you don’t plan on buying cycling cleats, this may not be a priority for you, but many people sure do enjoy the comfort of clipping in!

Dumbbell Holder

Dumbbell holders are great for workouts that involve a little upper body exercise to break up time spent cycling. You may not do these workouts every day but having your dumbbells within reach on days you do want to do workouts like this can make quick changes between dumbbell exercises and cycling intervals all the easier.

Water Bottle Holder

Don’t forget to hydrate! A water bottle holder is convenient for quick hydration during your workout. Many cycling instructors will include short breaks within their workouts, this is a perfect time to grab a quick swig of water. Depending on the workout, you may not have much time to get on and off the bike for water so having water on board is always a good idea.
